On Monday 16th October Harrison and Heatherington held its weekly sale of store lambs and breeding sheep in Borderway Mart. Another solid entry with all classes selling very well. Breeding ewes topped at £145 for a pen of 11 Texel cross shearling gimmers from J Clark, Pennyhill. Aged cheviot mule ewes topped at £130 for a smart pen of 21 from Pearsbyhall Farming Partnership, Tundergarth.
Store lambs were a blistering trade topping at £128 for an outstanding pair of belter crosses from Thrimby Farms Ltd, Penrith. Strong Texel cross mule lambs sold for £100 from G O & J E Holland, Bank End, Hesket Newmarket. Mule lambs topped at £86 form R A Elliot, Spency Croft, Alston.
A strong ringside of buyers was present for all shapes and sizes and many more could have been sold to vendors advantage, averaging £82 per head for 1029 sold.
