The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club sale was held in Borderway today. Another wonderful show of well-bred dairy cattle was forward, milky sorts from the top herds in the north of England and Scotland, however, vendors had somewhat of a reality check with trade topped at 2600gns and the milking heifers averaging just short of £1800.
The show was sponsored by Paragon Vets and Finance for Farmers with the judge Ali Cook of the Auchensala herd tapping out Stowbeck Renegade Lorna from Skirwith Hall Farms as his Overall Champion. This milking heifer went on to sell for 2250gns to Crossfell Farms. Reserve Champion went to the 2nd prize junior heifer in milk from the same good home, Stowbeck Fuel Connie, and she sold for 2200gns.
The top price of the day went to Peter Kemp from Kingswell, Aberdeen with milking heifer Warnelview Impression Ruby 3 at 2600gns purchased by the Kinloch Family, Cardross, Dumbartonshire.
