Lazonby Store Lamb Show & Sale

On Thursday, 5^th October Harrison & Hetherington held its October show and sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market.  Another huge entry of 2563 we present levelling out at a wonderful average of £76.01 which is extraordinary given there was a combined entry of 1503 mules and swaledale’s. Before the sale however the pre-sale show took place this time it fell to supporter Jayne Inman who after much deliberation awarded the Richard Hodgson Trophy & Championship rosette to first time vendor Colin Birbeck, High Stennerskeugh who sold his champion pen for £106. The same home sold lambs to £100 and his run of 22 averaged an astonishing £102. However top price went to Mike and Marie Faulder when their Reserve Champion pen and first prize continentals sold a pen of 10 for £130 per life for there Beltex cross lambs. Swaledale lambs were in strong demand with top price going for £64 for a pen of 12 from J J Hope, Brunthwaite. Suffolks peaked at £83.50 for a pen of 61 from Messrs Pickthall, The Mains. Lazonby Estate Farms sold a fantastic run of 111 lambs to average out at £97.67 however top average went to Mike and Marie Faulder who sold 37 to average £119.95. good lambs met a very strong demand however longer keep lambs were easier bought.
