Lazonby Sale of Store Lambs

On Thursday, 19^th October Harrison & Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store lambs in Lazonby market. A total of 2777 heads went under the hammer which is a 150% increase in numbers at the same sale last year. A total average of £75.36 was achieved, which is astonishing considering 1500 were mule & Swaledale lambs. Topping the sale was a pen of 12 Beltex lambs from Marie & Mike Faulder, Ewan Close selling for £123. Texel lambs topped at £118 from Messrs Ivinson, Sandwick. Mule lambs met a lovely trade with top price coming from Geoff Wharton, Keisley who sold 14 to £104 and Messrs Summers, Milescott who sold 8 for the same price. Swaledale’s met a nice trade with a top price of £73 for a pen of 25 from Anthony Wood, Moffat Cottage. Cheviot lambs topped at £97 from Messrs Raine, Randalholme for a pen of 9.
