Harrison & Hetherington held the third day of the annual Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sale on Friday when 431 shearlings rams were on offer.
The sale topped at £105,000 and matching the new breed record set on day two was the reserve champion shearling ram consigned by Messrs Lightfoot, Gillside Farm, Glenridding and was purchased by Messrs Tully, Burncroft Farm, Eggleston and Messrs White, Rigg Farm, Middleton in Teesdale with Messrs Lightfoot retaining a share.
Messrs Coates, Aygill Farm, Muker sold a ram to £40000 being purchased by Messrs Richardson, Ghyll House, Dufton.
Messrs Folder, Wescoe, Keswick sold the fourth placed ram to make £35,000 selling to Messrs Allinson, West Briscoe, Baldersdale; Messrs White, Rigg Farm, Middleton in Teesdale & Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm, Bowes.
Messrs Wear, Howe Green, Hartsop sold a ram to £28,000 being purchased by Messrs Tunstall, Highfield House, Brough; S Hardisty & Son, How Hall, Ennerdale with Messrs Wear retaining a share.
Messrs Bland, Thwaite Bridge House, Hawes sold the overall champion to make £20,000 to Messrs Harker, Grayrigg Hall, Kendal and Messrs Hargreaves, Meadow Bank, Burnley.
340 rams sold to average £2734.44 (up £262.72 on the year)
A fantastic overall two day average of £2606.25 (up £333 on the year) was achieved for 595 rams sold.
