Kirkby Stephen Luke Fair Breeding Sheep Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd Kirkby Stephen held their annual Luke Fair sale of breeding sheep.

A pen of five 2/4 crop Swaledale ewes topped at £400 from Messrs Marwood, Hilltop Farm, Barnard Castle selling to Messrs Wallace, Lane Head Farm, Barnard Castle. This home also sold a pen of six 2 and 3 crop ewes to £320 again to Messrs Wallace.

Messrs Rukin, Gate House Farm, Weststonesdale sold a pen of correct bellow Swaledale ewes to make £350 selling to Messrs Taylor, Wickworth Cottage, Keasden.

Messrs Hutchinson, Valley Farm, Barnard Castle sold a pen of 2 and 3 crop Swaledale ewes to make £310. With another pen of four selling to £300 from this home both being purchased by Burncroft Farm, Eagleston, Barnard Castle.

Continental sheep topped at £245 for a pen of Texel cross shearlings from Messrs Guy, Fountain Head, Barnard Castle with this same home also selling another pen of texel shearlings at £215 both purchased by Messrs Willison, Bybeck Farm, Tebay.

Texel ewes topped at £220 for a pen of 6 2 and 3 crop ewes from Messrs Hullock, Midtown, Murton which were also purchased by Messrs Willison, Tebay.

Mule shearlings sold to £175 and £170 for two pens of ten and fourteen from Messrs Nutter, Manor Farm, Clitheroe which were purchased by Messrs Cannon, Friarbiggin, Orton.

Swaledale shearlings topped at £162 for a pen from Messrs Baines, Skirrygill, Stainmore which were purchased by Messrs Metcalfe, Aberdeenshire.

Texel gimmer lambs topped at £158 from Messrs Morland, Paddock Cottage, Tebay purchased by Messrs Coulthard, Hill House, Barnard Castle.

Mule gimmer lambs topped at £126 for a pen from Messrs Tiplady, Red House Farm, Barnard Castle which were purchased by Messrs Sayer, Barnard Castle.

The topped at £850 for a two shear Bluefaced Leicester ram from Messrs Allison, Low Cow Helm, Middlesbrough which was purchased by Messrs Barker, Palmer Hill, Brampton.

Messrs Wharton, Keisley farm sold a Bluefaced Leicester ram to £750 purchased by Messrs Fawcett, Argill House.

Texel shearling rams topped at £650 from Messrs Hastwell, The Buildings, Kirkby Stephen purchased by Messrs Wear, White House, Knock.

Beltex tups topped at £600 from Messrs Wearmouth, Gillses purchased by Messrs Lancaster, Fell View, Sandford.
