STORE CATTLE – Once again numbers flood to Borderway to get on board the mothership of all sale centres. 700 store cattle were forward at the weekly sale whereby all classes were a joy to sell with every lot well bid for by a larger ringside of buyers on the week. Top overall was a beef shorthorn steer from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton achieving £1960, £1910 and £1880 for others. Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1860 from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna. Charolais to £1790 from Messrs Slack, Cockley Bank, Brampton and British Blues also peaking at £1790 from Messrs Graham, Stubby Knowe. Limousin crosses to £1780 from Messrs Grice, Newton Farm, Carlisle and Simmentals topped at £1660 from Messrs Kennedy, How Cottage, Brampton. Heifers seen a day’s top of £1840 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Robinson, Rowell Farm, Milnthorpe. Limousins to £1740 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas. Simmentals to £1700 from Messrs Robinson, Rowell Farm. British Blue crosses to £1520 from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith. Charolais peaked at £1480 from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh. Dairy bred steers topped at £1400 from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall for a Friesian and to £1260 for a pen of 5 from Messrs Nixon Ribton House, Workington.
