Middleton Store Cattle Show & Sale

On Tuesday 31^st October Harrison and Hetherington conducted there show and sale of store cattle within Middleton in Teasdale Market.

The pre-sale judging was ably carried out by Joseph & Terrence Nattrass who awarded the championship to the 1^st prize bullock under 12m consigned by Messrs Thompson, Allotment Farm and later went on to top the sale at £1600. The Reserve Champion and claiming the special prize for the best animal consigned by a tenant of Wemmergill Estate was the 1^st prize bullock over 12m from Messrs JC & J White, Rigg Farm who sold for £1560. The special prize for the best animal consigned by a tenant of Lord Barnard was won by Messrs Mitchell, Parrick House with the 2^nd prize bullock under 12m who sold at £1580. Heifers sold to a top of £1440 for the 1^st prize heifer under 12m consigned by JC & J White, Rigg Farm. Overall Cattle met a fantastic trade with bullocks rising £88 on the year to average £1250.38 and heifers up £40 at £1152.97 for 21 more cattle sold giving and overall average of £1206.18.
