Lazonby Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday, 2nd November Harrison & Hetherington held its fortnightly sale of store lambs and breeding sheep in Lazonby market. Another fantastic entry of 1320 head went under the hammer where both short and long keep lambs sold exceptionally well despite a dip in the fat trade this week.

This week we held our Bonny Boys show of 10 Mule wether lambs.  The judging was in the capable hands of Haig Murray, The Beeches, Canonbie.

Outwith the show the sale topped at £120 for a Texel cross from GR & SM Makepeace, Black House.  Continental and Suffolk lambs sold to extreme rates with 38 pens cashing in and over £90/head. Suffolk lambs sold to £106 TMJ & TR Johnson, Greenley Cleugh.  Messrs Pickthall, The Mains, Kelso was sold a great pen of 68 Suffolks to £90.  Cheviots lambs topped at £106 from RJ Watson, Croglin Low Hall.  All sizes of Swale wethers were a flying trade topping at £68 from D Smith, 16 Cross Close.  Breeding rams sold to £200 for a Blue Faced Leicester 2 shear from RH & EM Lord, The Bog.
