STORE CATTLE – Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle where numbers tightened up slightly this week with 470 on offer, no shortage of buyers ensured all classes took a massive leap on the week for all classes. Leading the trade this week was a Hereford heifer consigned by Messrs Robinson, Rowell, Milnthorpe which sold for £1810. A trio of vendors sold bullocks to £1800, this being achieved for an Angus, British Blue and Charolais from Messrs Smith, Campingholm, Messrs Tiffin, Wham Head and Messrs Barr, Meikle Kirkland respectively. Dairy bullocks sold to £1660 for Friesians from Messrs Wilson, Street Head.

SUCKLED CALVES
A smaller show of suckled calves was forward with a keen ring side of buyers which ensured a great trade. Messrs Fletcher, Black Cleugh sold a Limousins cross bullock for £1220. Messrs Furlong & Co, Ridley Farm run of Limousin cross sucklers topped at £1100 for a bullock and £940 for heifers. Messrs Whitfield & Son, Batey Shields 7 month old Limousin x bullocks topped at £1100 (x2) £1080. Messrs Ivinson, Lea Hall sold a 7 month old Limousin cross bullock for £1090. Messrs Ackerley, Milton Mains sold a 7 month old Charolais bullock for £1070 and an 8 month old heifer for £980 and a 7 month old bull for £1020.
