Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle with a much smaller entry forward as numbers appear to tighten for a week or two.  Despite numbers falling trade boosts forward once again with both quality and plainer cattle dearer on the week.  Topping the sale overall were two Limousins cross steers from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan at £1880.  Messrs Fishwick, Thornship Farm, Penrith sold another to £1860.  Messrs Rudd, Grassings, Wigton sold both British Blues and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1680.  Heifers sold to a days top of £1690 on two occasions, firstly by Messrs Slack, Cockleybank, Brampton for an Aberdeen Angus and secondly by Messrs Holliday & Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton for a British Blue cross.  Hereford to £1510 from Messrs Forrester, Down By Rigg, Carlisle and a Blonde crosses to £1430 from Messrs Beattie, Guards Mill, Gretna.

Black and white steers sold to £1280 from Holstein Friesians from Messrs Smithson, Skelcies Hall, Kirkby Stephen and £1150 on two occasions for heifers from Messrs Graham, Stubbyknowe, Gretna and Messrs Forrester, Down By Rigg.
