Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

BLACKROSE TOPS FOR BERRYHOLME

The November Border & Lakeland catalogue was briming with quality genetics from start to finish with outstanding milking animals consigned by many of the top Holstein breeders from the north of England and Scotland.  Buyers from across the United Kingdom packed the ringside with milking animals topping at 3,700gns to average £2301 per life with six animals selling for or above £3000 and only ten milkers selling below £2000.  The sale also included the Tallent Holstein sale that topped at 3,600gns to average £2100.

Paragon Veterinary Group sponsored the show with Ted Fearon former President of the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club judging the pre-sale classes.  He selected Denmire Attico Roxy 135 as his overall champion who was consigned by the Dennison family from Scales Park Farm near Ulverston.  She was sired by Gen-I-Beq Attico Red and was bred from a great line of the Roxy cow family and sold for 3,600gns to Mr Barrowman from the Stranraer.  The Denmire herd sold another five heifers to average £2607.

Topping the sale at 3,700gns was Berryholme Solarpower Rose who was consigned by the Wright family from Kendal.  Rose had is all, a perfect pedigree, amazing conformation and displayed huge potential to develop into a super milk producer.  Her fifth dam was Ruby Redrose the Supreme Champion Red & White at World Dairy Expo in 2005.  Rose was purchased by McKenzie from the Blackisle.  The Berryholem herd sold another three heifers to average over £3000.

Our next dairy sale takes place on Wednesday 29th November and features 400 dairy cattle in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale.  This catalogue can be viewed online at www.harrisonandhetherington.co.uk or can be order from the Pedigree Office 01228 406230
