Tallent Major Reduction Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

TALLENT TOP TRADE WITH PARADISE

The Tallent Holstein herd has accomplished much since it was established in 1987 under the management of Anthony Brough.  Breeding the world’s greatest Holstein sire namely Picston Shottle along with his partners the Pickford family is probably his proudest achievement.  This was the fourth sale in as many years for this well known herd with many repeat buyers packing the ringside at Borderway.  The trade topped at 3,600gns for a classy young heifer with the overall average for the milking cows and heifers coming £2100.

Topping the sale at 3,600gns was Tallent Applejax Paradise who was bought by the Alston family from Brecon.  Paradise had classified VG86 as a two year old and was making a huge first record.  She traces back to the two time World Dairy Expo Champion Vandyk-K Integriy Paradise and completes ten generations of Holstein cows to classify Excellent or Very Good.  Her August born heifer calf sired by Mecca P sold for 1,050gns to Mr Mounsey from Ashberry Farm near Brampton.

Another Very Good 86 pointed heifer attached brisk bidding with Tallent Gateway Mandy selling for 3,200gs to the Mactaggart family from near Castle Douglas.  Many had a powerful frame and fancy udder and was bred from a cracking line of long life cows many having produced over 100 ton lifetime. Her heifer calf sired by Megga P sold for 1,050gns to Mr fenny from Cheshire.

Selling for 3,000gns to Mr Harison from near Penrith was Tallent Applejax Gaye 9 who completes the tenth generation of Holstein cows to classify in the top grades.  Gaye traces back to the prolific transmitting cow Conant-Acres Valiant Gaye who was a well known sire of sons.  Her heifer calf sired by Megga P sold for 1,050gns to Mr fenny from Cheshire.

Tallent Kenmore Barbie sold for 2,900gns to Mr Mckenzie from the Black Isle and her heifer calf sired by Mecca P sold for 1,200gns to Mr Scott from near Lockerbie.  The Brough family would like to thank everyone who supported their sale and helped in the runup to the event and would like to wish everyone much success with their new purchases.

Our next dairy sale takes place on Wednesday 29th November and features 400 dairy cattle in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale.  This catalogue can be viewed online at www.harrisonandhetherington.co.uk or can be order from the Pedigree Office 01228 406230
