On Monday 20th November Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of store lambs. A much larger entry of 700 head were presented to a much larger show of buyers looking for all classes of lambs. Topping the sale was a pair of Texel cross lambs from J H Richardson, Underbank selling for £123. Beltex lambs topped at £122 for a single lamb from J G Bewley, Mid Farm, Wigton. Mules topped at £92 for a pen of 7 from J H Richardson, selling for £92. Swaledale lambs topped at £95 from B & D Willison, Penrith. Suffolks topped at £87 from SJ North Lewis South Farm, Hexham. More vendors are seeing the potential with first time vendors G Clarkson, Elrington Hall, Hexham selling a fantastic run of 41 Texel cross lambs to average £96.44. Trevor Harrison, Lesson Hall sold 10 Beltex to average £106.90. The sale averaged a very respectable £81.80. Many more lambs can be sold to vendors advantage.
