Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE –On Wednesday 29^th November, Harrison & Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.

A great entry of 500 store cattle was forward for this time of year, whereby all classes sold to an absolute electric trade throughout, with a buzzing ringside of bidders.  Topping the sale overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna at £1990. Messrs Grice, Newton Farm, Longton sold another to £1870 while John Crowther, Spittalriddinghill Farm, Annan sold two to £1850 and £1800. A Montbelairde from Greenwrae sold to £1800, Charolais to £1770 from Messrs Udale, Sidewaybank Penrith. British Blues to £1750 from Messrs Graham, Stubbyknowe, Gretna. Simmentals to £1740 form Messrs Potts, Chapel House, Brampton and Blondes to £1730 from Mark Crowther, Spittalriddinghill, Annan.

Heifers peaked at £1640 for a 19 month old Limousin cross from Messrs Rushton, Nirvana, Longtown and to £1600 for another from Messrs Moffat, Thornby Villa, Wigton. Messrs Udale, Sidewaybank sold two Charolais to £1550, which Messrs Ferguson, Sandbed Farm, Longton sold the top British Blue cross to £1540. Messrs byers, Gimmenbie, Lockerbie sold Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1520 and the same home also sold Simmental crosses to £1500.

Dairy bred cattle sold to £14990 for Fleckvieh from Messrs Ritchie, Croftheads Annan, £1420 for two British Friesians from Messrs Smith, Campingholm, Gretna and to £1400 for three from Messrs Neill, Thornington Farm, Northumberland. Ayrshire steers to £1410 from Messrs Lindsay, Harperfield, Lanark.

Many more could have been sold to the Vendor’s advantage and we are actively looking for many more for next weeks sale.
