Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE –On Wednesday 3rd January, Harrison & Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.  The first sale of 2024 for Borderways Store Cattle was held with one of the best store vendors could have asked for with trade lifting yet another gear.  Steers averaged a healthy £1400.53 while heifers levelled at £1280.50.  The sale topped at £2000 for a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna while others for the same home sold to £1870 and £1810 for a Montbelairde.  Messrs Rushton, Nirvana, Longtown sold Simmentals to £1760.  Messrs Haston, Swordwellrigg, Annan sold Charolais to £1720 with others selling to £1690 from Messrs Holliday, Newbampton, Wigton.  Hereford to £1640 from Swordwellrigg, Annan and British Blues to £1610 from Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie.

Heifers sold to a day’s top for £1640 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Dickinson, Low House, Wigton and other to £1550 from Broathill, Lockerbie.  Messrs Lawson, Middleton Hill, Morpeth sold two Holstein Friesians to £1510.  Simmentals to £1470 from Nirvana, Longtown.  Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan sold Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1450.
