Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 10th January, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A good show of stronger calves saw trade jump this week topping at £645 for a Stabiliser cross bull calf from AR & HF Errington, Sockbridge Hall, Penrith.  JW & VI Naylor, Hill Green, Drigg sold British Blue bulls to £640 who’s run of 7 averaged £520/head.  JA Jones Ltd, Glebe House, Milburn sold Blue bulls to £620 with their run of 5 averaging £512.  Wadsworth Farming Ltd sold an outstanding run of strong calves topping at £585 for 5 month British Blue bulls selling 10 to a staggering average of £496/head.  Heifer calves topped at £580 twice first for a smart 4 month Pure Limousin from J & E Pattinson, Bonshawside, Kirtlebridge, and then again for a 5 month British Blue from JW & VI Naylor, Hill Green.  Angus bulls calves topped at £560 from A W Dixon, West Heddon, Heddon on the Wall.  J Forrest & Son, Meinfoot, Ecclesfechan sold a pair of British Bue bull calves to £520.  AJ & JA McKie, Wedholme Hill sold a pair of 3 month British Blue bull calves to £510.  2 months old Limousin bulls sold to £430 from IT & EM Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg, Longtown.  Bowe Dairy Farming Ltd, Chalk Lodge sold 2 month Blue bulls to £390 as did Bateson & Braithwaite, Bowbridge, Great Asby.  Messrs Wood, Allerby Mill, Maryport sold 1 month old Blues to £360.  2 Month old Angus Bulls sold to £340 from Fauld Farm, Longtown and W & D Threlkeld, Ladywells, Ecclefechan.  1 month old Limousin heifer calves sold to £450 form IT & EM Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg.
