HOPE TOPS FOR BOCLAIR

The opening Border & Lakeland sale of 2024 was a credit to all the consignors involved with a high standard on offer from start to finish.  Several elite pedigrees featured in this special catalogue and are included in the leading prices.  Demand for quality dairy cattle is strong and only increase the dairy economy improves, it is worth mentioning that the dairy replacement cost continues to look attractive as the value of cull cows increase. 

The overall average settled at £2492 with the top price heifer selling for 3,200gns; with 7 animals selling for or more than £3000 and only 4 selling for less than £2000.   

Finance For Farms sponsored the show and Jim Caldwell from Baltersan Farm in Ayrshire judged the pre-sale classes.  The Overall Champion sold for 3,000gns and was purchased by the judge.  Wormanby Dimension Twain was consigned by Wormanby Farms from Carlisle and was sired by Kings-Ranson Dimension.  She was bred from an impressive line of the Twain family that traces back to Eastside Skychief Twain who was a two time National Champion in Ireland.  Another five heifers from this home sold to average almost £2845.

Mr Caldwell selected Feizor Adorable A Lasenza as his Reserve Champion, she was consigned by the Booth family from Lanchasire and sold for 2,900gns to the Templeton family from Ayrshire.  She was sired by Stantons Adorable and bred from a great line of the Belfast Goldwyn Lasenza family, the Feizor herd sold another 4 heifers to average £2887.

The overall top price went to Boclair Doc Hope who sold for 3,200gns going to the judge.  Consigned by the Brewster family from Glasgow, she was sired by King Doc and bred from the Hope cow family, her grand dam was an Excellent 94 pointed cow.  The Boclair herd sold 3 heifers to average over £3000.

Two other heifers sold for 3,000gns, the first was Dalserf Morris Finess consigned by the Baillie family from Lanarkshire who was and purchased by Mr Mackie and  Berryholme Sound System Yvonne from the Wright’s near was purchased by Mt Royal from Cheshire.
