Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 24th January, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves. 258 calves were forward to average a strong £275. Trade was considerably up on the week and numbers were well short of buyers requirements.   Topping the sale at £635 was an Aberdeen Angus cross bull calf from Andrew Vance, Portyerrock, Newton Stewart.  AJ & JA McKie, Wedholme Hill, Wigton sold a pen of 3 Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £565.  Low Wood Dairy Co, Warwick Bridge sold 4 month British Blue bulls to £560. D & M Irving, Brunthill, Wigton sold a 4 month old Limousin bull to £550.  J & D Martin, Boggle Hall, Plumpton sold 2 month old British Blues to £535. T W Martin, Tempest Tower, Little Orton sold a 3 month old Aberdeen Angus bull to £510 while WM Heron & Sons, Eastfield, Appleby-in-Westmorland sold the same age Aberdeen Angus bull to £500 and selling 2 month old Montbeliarde bulls to £470. Turnball Farming, Monks House sold 2 month old British Blue bulls to £445. Heifers topped at £490 for British Blues from AJ & JA McKie, Wedholme Hill. R & S McKie, Stoneybrook, Brampton sold 3 month Limousin heifers to £440.
