Borderway Store & Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 29^th January Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of store lambs in Borderway Mart.

Store Sheep

Trade topped at £139 for a pen of 4 Beltex lambs from S & D Peile, Parkgate, Wigton whose run averaged 134. Steven Frizell sold a run of 19 to average £117.89. Mules peaked at £94. Messrs Nordon, Hindrigg sold a pen of 15 Kerry Hills to £100

Breeding Sheep

Harrison and Hetherington conducted the dispersal of the in lamb Texel ewes, gimmers, ewe hoggs and tup hoggs on behalf of Lilburn Estates. A total of 300 went under the hammer with a packed ringside of buyers from all corners of the UK ensuring all classes were keenly bid for. Female trade was fantastic with top price being a pair selling for £380 to Messrs Jones, Carmarthen. Ewes also sold to £340 & £340 & £300. A tremendous run of 92 ewes went to average £245.21. Gimmer shearlings met a blistering trade with a pen of 5 pearlers topping at £500 going to Messrs Storrow, Morpeth. Pens also sold to £480, £430, £400. A run of 47 went to average £331.81. Ewe hoggs topped at £230 for a pen of 8 Charollais cross hoggs. Texel ewe hoggs topped at the same price with a total of 48 averaging £195.35. ram hoggs met a delightful trade with top price coming for a Suffolk hogg selling to £600. Charollais ram lambs topped at £520 while Texel lambs topped at £480. A thank you goes to Lilburn Estates for allowing Harrison and Hetherington to conduct the sale.
