Kirkby Stephen OTM & Cast Cow Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their Opening sale of the new year of Cast & OTM Cattle on Monday when 62 head were forward.

Topping the cows at £2033.97 was a 9 year old Pure British Blue cow weighing 906kg and made 224.5p/kg from Messrs Brannen Scar Top, Penrith which was bought by Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

Messrs Harryman, Keskadale Farm, Keswick sold a 740kg British Blue cross cow to make 226.5p/kg £1676.10 selling to J Birkbeck for JA Jewitt, Spennymoor.

The wonderful consignment of 12 pure Limousin, Limousin cross and British Blue Cross cows from Keskadale sold to average 668kg £1204.63 180.3p/kg.

Dairy cows sold to £1178.49 for a 9 year old 978kg Holstein/Friesian which made 120.5p/kg from Messrs Steel, Low Hall, Little Musgrave and was bought by Dovecote Park, Pontefract.

Messrs Chippendale, Wharton Hall, Kirkby Stephen sold a 6 year old Holstein/Friesian cow weighing 970kg to make 119.5p/kg £1159.15 selling to Dovecote Park.

62 cows sold to average a whopping 150p/kg and £1028.31 per head.

30 Limousin cross cows sold to average 160.5p/kg and £1083.38

10 British Blue cross Cows sold to average 164.13p/kg and £1132 per head.
