Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 31st January, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves. A strong entry of 375 calves sold to a packed ringside of buyers, saw all classes a delight to sell.  Topping the sale at £630 for a 4 month old British Blue bull from A V Elwen, Netherfield Farm, Irthington.  N P Fish, Crossrigg, Aspatria sold a 2 month old Blue calf to £530.  Limousin bulls sold to £525 for a 3 month old from I Murchie, Hawkshole, Canonbie.  C Horsley Ltd, Whitrigg Grange, Wigton sold a 1 month old Angus bull to £490.  Messrs Bell, Torpenhow Hall, Wigton sold 2 month Limousin bull calves to £450.  J Sewell, Mayfield, Cockermouth sold 1 month old British Blue bull calves to £445.  Fauld Farm, Ltd Longtown sold a month Angus bull calves to £425.  Messrs Sowerby, Town Head, Drybeck sold 3 month Holstein Friesian bulls to £290 with others selling to £280 from P & C A Harrison, Breckney Hill, Heddon on the Wall.  Heifers calves topped the sale at £485 for British Blues from M & J A Johnston, Petteril Side, Southwaite.  Limousins heifers sold to £480 for a 3 month from G & SE Fox, Windy Hill, Hethersgill.  Messrs Reed, Moss Side House, Newton Arlosh sold 3 month British Blue heifers to £455.  W Wood & Son, Groundy Croft, Drigg sold Hereford heifers to £410.  Angus heifers sold to £405 from A W Dixon, West Heddon.
