Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE –On Wednesday 31st January, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly store cattle sale with yet another great entry and sale of 532 cattle forward resulting in yet another monumental trade for all shapes and sizes.  Achieving the top overall price on the day of £1990 were Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna selling their Limousin cross steer.  Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton closely followed this at £1980 as did Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle selling their best to £1960.  Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith sold a Charolais to £1970.  British Blues to £1890 from Messrs Irving, Thackmire, Wigton.  Two cattle achieve £1860, firstly was a Parthenais from East Barr Fam, Newton Stewart and secondly by Messrs Mounsey, Ashfield, Carlisle with a Simmental cross.  Beef Shorthorns crosses to £1790 for two from Messrs Goddard, West Logan, Castle Douglas.  Dairy bred steers sold to £1740 for a Montbelairde and Friesians to £1660 both from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.

Heifers sold to £1860 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Smith, Campingholm, Gretna.  Limousins to £1850 from Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton and Simmental crosses from Messrs Stainton, The Garth, Carlisle to the same money.  Messrs Goddard sold Beef Shorthorns to £1690.  British Blue crosses to £1590 from Messrs Robertson, Town Head, Cockermouth and Charolais to £1550 for a pen of three from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith.  Two Beef Shorthorn bulls form Messrs Watson, Field Croft, Holmrook sold to £1880 and £1870.
