Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 7^th February Harrison & Hetherington sold 308 calves at their weekly sale to average a staggering £310/head.  Many more calves of all shapes and sizes could have been sold to sellers advantage.  Topping the sale at £630 twice firstly for a pair of British Blue bulls from Thackwood Farms Ltd, Monkcastle and secondly for a British Blue bull for Wadsworth Farming Ltd, Big Balcraig, Whauphill.  R H Bell, Moorland Close, Cockermouth sold a three month British Blue bulls to £580.  Evening Hill Farm Ltd sold an outstanding run of calves topping at £570 for a pen of 3 month old British Blue bulls.  Angus bull calves topped at £550 from Mains of Duchrae Farming, Castle Douglas.   Bluestone Farming Ltd, Chirnside sold 3 month Angus bulls to £465.  East Scales, Gretna sold a 2 month British Blue bull to £445.  Messrs Forrester, Down by Rigg sold a pair of 3 month Angus bulls to £405.   Heifers topped at £515 from Wadsworth Farming Ltd.  While Bluestone Farming Ltd sold a 4 month Blue heifers to £510.  S Hornby, Laggonmore, Portpatrick sold a Parthenais heifer to £500.  Limousin heifers topped at £485 for a 3 month from Richard Wilson, Broomberry, Ayr.
