Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE –On Wednesday 7^th February, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly store cattle sale.  Numbers of stores were slightly harder to obtain this week with a catalogued entry of 450 head being presented for sale.  Although a couple of our weekly buyers were missing, the remaining 36 purchasers produced the trade of the year.   All classes of cattle were forward and levelled up at £1423.39 with bullocks at £1480 and heifers at £1350, 49 cattle sold from £1700 - £2180.  Alec Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas led this week’s sale at £2180 with a tremendous Charolais x bullock with others to £2100 with his run of five Charolais bullocks leading the consignor average at £1904.  British Blue bullocks sold to £2120 from Uskstar Ltd, Brampton.  Dairy bred Angus bullocks sold to £2020 from Messrs Harper, West House, Dearham.  Aberdeen Angus also led the heifer section selling to £1900 from Messrs Robinson, Rowell, Milnthorpe.
