Middleton In Teesdale Suckled Calf Sale

Middleton-in-Teesdale, Station Road, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Co Durham, DL12 0PJ

On Tuesday 13th of February Harrison and Hetherington conducted its highlight show & sale of store cattle in Middleton in Teasdale Market.

A total of 220 went under the hammer and were met by a blistering trade from start to finish. A great show of cattle was presented with a huge congratulations going to the vendors whose hard work and dedication goes unrivalled, putting Middleton and Teasdale well and truly on the map.

A steer average of £1283.01 was achieved being up £50 on the year while heifers were up £40 with an average of £1269.30. Prior to the sale, the pre-sale show took place with this year’s judge being Georgia and Charlotte Davies, Leicester who after much deliberation awarded the Champion and Phillip Holden Trophy to J D Bently, Lanehead for a Limousin steer, this great calf then went to sell for £1800 being purchased by Messrs Nicholson, Carlisle.

The Reserve Champion went to the first prize Limousin heifer from JC & J White, Rigg Farm later selling to £2200 to Messrs Marsh, Dover. Top price of the day went to Messrs White, Rigg Farm who sold 2 British Blue heifers at £2250 each to Messrs Bradley, Settle and Messrs Johnston, North Yorkshire.

Steers topped at £2100 from Messrs White, Rigg Farm to Messrs Keel, Thirsk. Charolais heifers topped at £1800 from G Scott, Low House. G Bell, The Pry sold a flashy Limousin heifer for £2000 to Messrs Brass, Kirkby Stephen.
