On Monday 19th February Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of store lambs in Borderway Mart. A total sale average of £92.23 was achieved with over half the sale being hill bred lambs. Topping the sale was a single Texel lamb selling for £149 the run of 6 from Messrs Gardhouse, Aikton House went on to average £135.17. Messrs Pratt, Hazeldean sold a pen of 13 texel cross lambs selling for £137. Hill lambs topped at £108 for a pen of Cheviots from Messrs Ruddock, Roxburghshire. Swaledales topped at £92 from Messrs Adkin, Dollard.
A large show of lamb sheep expected next week starting at 11am.
Many more could be sold to vendor’s advantage.
