Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 21st February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a bumper entry of 415 to average £260/head.  Strong calves were a blistering trade and plainer bred young calves were sharper on the week.  Topping the sale at £605 was a cracking 2 month Charolais bull from KJ & M Sharp, Wolsty Hall, Silloth.  DJ Livingston, Kirtlevale, Gretna sold a 2 month Limousin bull calf to £600.  N Boyd & Son, Rockhallhead, Collin sold a 3 month British Blue to £600.  Messrs Beard, Dormansteads, Roweltown sold 2 month Blue bulls to £590.  Angus bulls topped at £580 from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig, Whauphill.  Limousin heifers sold to £550 from Big Balcraig.  British Blue heifers sold to £500 from AJ & JA McKie, Wedholme Hill, Wigton.  KJ & M Sharp, Wolsty Hall sold 3 month Blue heifers to £490.  Angus heifers sold to £440 from Big Balcraig while A & J Campbell, Carsewalloch, Creetown sold a pen of 5 Angus heifers to £435.  Simmental bulls calves sold to £420 from N Boyd & Son, Rockhallhead.  Hereford heifers calves sold to £390 from W Wood & Son, Groundy Croft, Drigg.  Friesian bull calves sold to £230 from Dormansteads Farm.
