Lockerbie Store Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington held their second sale of store cattle of 2021 at Lockerbie Auction Mart on Tuesday 26th January. With an ever-increasing demand for cattle, all types were exceptionally well bid for.

£1390 was the top price of the day for a Simmental heifer from Messrs Hyslop, Maryfield who also had a Limousin heifer at £1170, a Simmental bullock at £1135 and a Charolais bullock at £1090.

The top price bullock of the day was from Messrs Henderson, Cleuchbrae Mill for an Aberdeen Angus at £1380, the same home also had a Limousin bullock at £1335. Hereford cattle sold up to £1080 for bullocks and heifers from Messrs Ker, Justenlees while Shorthorns were up to £980 from Messrs Porteous, Penlaw.

Messrs Common, Crossdykes sold Limousin bullocks up to 259.4ppk. Beef Shorthorn bullocks were up to 262ppk from Messrs Spence, North Corrielaw with Aberdeen Angus’ up to 241.2ppk from the same good home.

Limousin heifers sold up to 263ppk from Messrs Wilson, The Reddings and Simmental heifers were up to 256.2ppk again from Messrs Spence, North Corrielaw.

A super trade throughout for both big and small cattle with buyers still eager for more at the end of the day. The next sale at Lockerbie is in two weeks’ time on Tueday 9th February. Please advise entries to the auctioneers.
