On Monday 26th February Harrison and Hetherington conducted the sale of in-lamb sheep and store lambs in Borderway Mart. A great show of in-lamb sheep was forward with buyers looking for quality. Topping the sale was a single black Texel carrying twins selling for £255 from D A Shuttleworth, New Abbey. The same home sold a pen of 2 shear Cheviots for £140. Herdwicks topped at £105 & £76 from the same home while mules topped at £135 from T A & J Brownrigg, Penrith. Store lambs met a blistering trade with a total sale average of £116.17 being achieved. Top price of the day went to T I Wetherell, High Building selling a single to £155. Suffolks topped at £148 from J Mcgregor, Annan. Cheviots sold to £145 for a pen of 16 from RI Lamb, High Troweir whose run of 118 averaged a staggering £125.52. More people are seeing the potential in Borderway with lambs coming near and far to take advantage of this genuine store trade. Many more could be sold to vendor’s advantage.
