STORE CATTLE –On Wednesday 28th February, Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly store cattle sale.

Once again a good entry of 509 for the first of the two store cattle sales this week as Saturday hosts a tremendous line up of 814 of the best commercial cattle in the country.

Today’s trade remains a flyer with steers averaging £1451 and heifers to £1371.50 and trade topping at £2120 for an Aberdeen Angus steer from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown. Other Angus steers sold to £1900 twice from Messrs Moffat, Stone House, Gretna and to £1850 from Messrs Richardson, Heggle Lane, Wigton. British Blues sold to £1970 for a dairy bred from Messrs Irving, Thackmire, Wigton. Limousin sold to £1960 from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle and Charolais to £1940 from Messrs Beattie, Shield Green, Carlisle. British Friesian sold to £1480 from Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill Rigg, Carlisle.

Heifers sold to £1930 for British Blues from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown. Uskstar Ltd, Brampton sold to £1850. Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to £1840 from Blackrigg Farm, Longtown. Limousins to £1760 from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and Simmentals to £1750 from Messrs Gwynne, Castlewigg, Newton Stewart and finally Charolais crosses to £1660 from Messrs Kyle, Spoutbank, Brampton.
