Borderway Store & Breeding Sheep Sale plus Pet Lambs

On Monday 4^th March Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of breeding and store lambs in Borderway Mart. A large consignment of in lamb sheep were forward to a large ringside of buyers. First off however was this years ewes and lambs from Messrs Greenbank, Bolton Hall who had an entry of 14 averaging £111.07. topping at £125 for a texel 3 shear with a single lamb. A larger show of in lamb ewes were forward with top price coming for 2 mule 3 shears from J Bell, Hallbankgate selling for £168 with twins. Texel ewes topped at £158 for a pen of aged ewes from J & J Hastings, Lockwood who sold 164 head to average £110. This run included a fantastic offering of 111 Blackfaced ewes topping at £104 for a pen of 16. Hoggs met a fantastic trade with top price coming from Andrew Kirkbride, Flimby Hall who sold 41 mule in lamb hoggs to average £160.

Store lambs met a blistering trade from start to finish. Top price went to C Todhunter, Greyrigg House selling a beltex lamb to £146 William Laird, Unity sold a flashy pen of dutch texels to £142. Texel lambs topped at £140 for 9 from Mike and Marie Faulder, Ewan Close whose run of 28 went to average £138.29.

Pet Lambs

On Monday 4^th March Harrison and Hetherington held their first pet lamb sale in 35 years with lambs reaching £100 and an overall sale average of £40.

Topping the sale at £100 was a 10-day old Suffolk from Messrs Jackson, Maulscastle. The texels peaked a £25 which was for a ewe lamb from Messrs Smith, Hilltop. Beltex lambs topped at £20 from Messrs Bell, Winterhope.
