Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 6^th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  A bumper entry of 436 calves sold away very well to a packed ring side of buyers looking for all classes.  Topping the sale at £650 was an Angus bull from IC Morton & Partners, Carsenestock, Newton Stewart.  British Blue bulls topped at £640 from A Robinson, Kirwaugh Farm, Wigtown.  Another quality consignment from Wigtownshire selling Blue bulls to £575 was Wadsworth Farming Ltd, Big Balcraig whos run of 12 averaged a very respectable £500.  East Scales Ltd, Gretna sold a 2 month Blue bull to £550.  William Beattie, Metal Bridge Farm, and D Hyslop, Meinside both sold 3 month Blue bulls to £535.

Limousin bulls sold to £520 from Big Balcraig.  3 month Angus bulls sold to £495 from W & D Threlkeld, Ladywells, Ecclefechan.  Fleckvieh bulls sold to £455 from Meinside, Eaglesfield.  Montbelairde bulls sold to £445 twice from JS & IM Wilson, Monk Foss, Millom and Messrs Wood, Allerby Mill, Maryport.  Holstein Friesians bullocks sold to £350 from A Tiffen & Sons, Wham Head, Hutton Roof.  2 month Hereford bulls sold to £320 from Monk Foss Farm.   Heifers topped at £545 for British Blues from A A Robinson, Kirwaugh.  Angus heifers sold to £470 for Big Balcraig.  Limousin heifers sold to £390 from J & D Martin, Boggle Hall.  Simmental heifers sold to £320 from J Forrest & Son, Meinfoot, Ecclesfechan.
