Borderway Store and Weaned Cattle Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

Harrison & Hetherington had forward 1081 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of 429 Store Cattle, 179 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 331 Calves, and 142 Dairy Cattle included in the Border and Lakeland Club Sale.

STORE CATTLE – A fantastic entry of 429 good store cattle forward at the weekly sale with yet even more renewed interest around the ringside securing an outstanding trade for all shapes and sizes.  Top overall went to regular supporters Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth who sold their run of 12 cattle to average £1291 and to a top of £1470 for a British Blue cross steer.  Limousins for Messrs Thompson, Edenbanks, Carlisle to £1460.  Aberdeen Angus to £1385 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg, Carlisle, and Beef Shorthorns to £1305 from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.  Heifers exceptionally easily sold to a top of £1460 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Wigham, Cold Shield, Haltwhistle, £1450 from Messrs Moffat, Stonehouse, Gretna and £1430 (x2) from Messrs Smith, Gallhills, Canonbie.   British Blue crosses to £1390 from Messrs Stamper Rose Farm, Cockermouth.  Charolais to £1345 from Messrs Watret, Burnside, Annan and Aberdeen Angus to £1330 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn, Carlisle. Dairy bred steers to a top of £1270 for Montbelairdes from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae and £1130 for Friesians from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.

A national shortage of numbers in both store and prime cattle is ensuring trade is as good as what has been seen for many years and store cattle vendors should take full advantage or Borderways weekly sale.  Please advise all entries to the main Office for next weeks sale by Friday morning or each week or call or text any of our Auctioneers who will be more than happy to help.

WEANED CATTLE: The weaned cattle sale once again proved very successful with all breeds and ages very well bid for. The bull section topped £1110 for a 10-month-old Charolais x bull from Messrs Slaven & Sons, Foregirth, Dumfries. Nice consignments of dairy bulls were also sold well with a pen of 7 British Friesian 7-month-old bulls from Messrs Weightman, High Wood Nook, Wigton selling for £525. Steers topped at £1030 for a British Blue from Messrs Lord, The Bog, Slaggyford, Brampton and heifers topped at £1070 for two Limousins from Messrs Pinguey, High House Kirkbride, Wigton.
