Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 22^nd February Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and Breeding sheep.

BREEDINGS SHEEP: The weekly breeding sale saw the first run of ewe and lambs, with a very mixed show on offer, however all classes were well bid for. Topping this section was a pen of 2 Texel cross ewes with singles at foot selling to £109 per life from Messrs Stobart, The Square, Kirklinton, with another pen selling to £104 per life.

Also this day saw consignments of in lamb ewes selling to £170 per life for Mules from Messrs Watson, Rowan Garth, Whitehaven.

Following on was the annual consignment of Texel cross hoggs from Peter Kidd, Briggle Farm, Penrith selling to top the sale at £175 with the full consignment selling to average £167.33.

In Lamb Hoggs: Texel £175, £165, £162 Briggle Farm.

In Lamb Ewes: Mules £170, £154, £142 Roan Garth.

Ewes & Lambs: Texel £109, £104, £86 The Square, £103, £95, £92, £86 Midtown Farm, Suffolk £88 Midtown Farm, Mules £79 Nunfield.

STORE SHEEP: the weekly sale saw a quieter ringside of buyers however this did not impact the trade. The sale averaged £103.94 with a top price of £127, achieved by a pen of Texel cross hoggs from Mr Alan Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton. With their run averaged £120.
