Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

BOCLAIR TAKE CHAMPION & RESERVE WITH LAMBDA PAIR

The best Border & Lakeland catalogue in the history of this famous monthly sale series featured a plethora of phenomenal pedigrees.  Many of the leading cow families in the breed graced the sale with most of the animals selling excelling in both conformation, production and pedigree.  This outstanding group of cows and heifers topped at 4,500gns to average £2160.  It is worth noting that despite the outstanding quality 57 animals sold for less than £2000; incredible value for money!

The show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and was expertly judged by Alister Vance owner of the Bridge House herd near Newton Stewart.  His overall Champion went to the winning Senior Heifer in milk, Boclair Delta-Lambda Rose who was consigned by the Brewster family from near Glasgow.  She traces back to the prolific brood cow Bosdale Storm Rose EX93 who bred the 18,000gns Ridgefield Progress Rose.  She was bought by Mr Caldwell from Ayrshire for 3,500gns.

The Errolston herd sold another ten heifers to average almost £2500.

The standout Red & White heifer was Pinupgirl Jordy Stockings Red who was consigned by the Weatherup family from Fife.  Her third dam was the 2016 UK Dairy Expo Champion, Parkend Director Starlet Red EX93.  This super uddered heifer sold for 3,200gns to Mr Roper near Preston.  The Weatherup family sold another ten heifers to average £2420.
