On Monday 25th March Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of ewes and lambs in Borderway Market. A total of 600 ewes and lambs were forward to meet an overall sale average of £118.45 which is remarkable giving the current wet Spring and lack of grass were are experiencing. Topping the sale was a Dutch Spotted Shearling with a tup and gimmer lamb selling to £350 a life (£1050). Blue Texel ewes topped at £120 a life for a ewe with a single lamb from W Linton, Lockerbie, Dorset ewes topped at £110 a life for ewes with singles from S Varga, Kelso whose run of 109 averaged £101.84. However, highlight of the day went to Andrew and Alison Bunting, Midtown who sold a fantastic run of 307 Suffolk cross Cheviot Mules ewes with Texel cross lambs selling to a wonderful average of £129.11 topping at £146 for 20 ewes with single lambs.

Store lambs continue to be buoyant with a top price coming for single Beltex lambs from M Peile, Wigton at £132. Many more could have been sold to advantage.
