Borderway Store & Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 1^st April Harrison and Hetherington conducted the weekly sale of breeding ewes and store lambs in Borderway Mart.

STORE & BREEDING SHEEP:

No bank holiday blues were apparent as ewes and lambs met a fantastic trade from start to finish. Topping the sale was a 4 shear Beltex ewe with 2 excellent Beltex lambs from Ioan Jones, Kirkby Stephen selling for £158 a life. Suffolk ewes topped at £116 a life for an ewe with Suffolk cross lambs from J W Hyslop, Palaceknowe. Texels topped at £97 a life for a ewe with a single. Shearlings with single lambs met a serious demand with top price coming from NJ & JM Todhunter, Greyrigg House however, stealing the show were some Suffolk shearlings with twin lambs from JW Hyslop selling for a wonderful £130 a life. Triplets topped at £67 from A Riddick, Aspatria selling to Mr Bell, Cockermouth.

Store lambs met another tremendous trade with the sale topping at £140 for a pen of 3 Beltex from R McConnell. Mules topped at £121 from Paul Wheatley, Inglewood.
