CARNDUFF TOP TWICE AT £2650
The April Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale featured just over 250 dairy cattle consigned from the top dairy herds in the North of England and Scotland. Trade topped at £2650 twice for two classy heifers with 116 milking heifers averaging £1918.
Agri-King sponsored the sale with the top prices going to the Bryson family from Dykehead Farm near Lesmahagow. They topped twice at £2650 first with Carnduff Targaryen Rosebud, she was giving 38kgs and bred from an Excellent 92 pointed dam and also for Carnduff Charming Lass who was giving 40kgs. Another heifer from this home Carnduff Charming Girl sold for £2600.
The Fleming family from Hillhead Farm sold four heifers to average almost £2300 with Hillhead Episode Jill selling for £2550, she was giving 40kgs with a PLI+£536 and Hillhead Teak Vision sold for £2400, she was giving 41kgs with a PLI+£452.
Several heifers sold for £2400 including Nydie Santos Hanna who was consigned by the Wilson family from Clackmae Farm in Berwickshire. She was sired by Boghill Glamour Santos and was giving 45kgs.
The Kaemuir herd owned by the Orr family from Falkirk sold five high producing heifers with two topping at £2400. Kaemuir Kenmore Yuta and Kaemuir Chaming Yuta both sold for £2400.
The Broughton herd consigned another top quality group of heifers and topped at £2400 for Broughton Karen, she was sired by Kopeon Shield Red and was giving 37kgs.
An outstanding consignment of British Friesian cows and heifers from the Queenscairn Herd near Kelso topped at £1950 for Queenscairn Jingle Rosette. She was recently calved in her second lactation and was giving 44kgs.
The Annandale herd sold a classy Holstein bull for £3200. Annandale Canterbury was sired by Vogue Solarpower and was out of Annandale BG Cameron.
Cumrew Farming Partners from Dumfries sold 73 dry cows mainly due in May to the Angus sire. These were Irish Friesian cross bred cows and topped at £1320 to average almost £900.
In calf heifers topped at £1580 for Eastbank Zasberilla Cora who was consigned by Tom Steveson from near Blackburn. She was due in June to Warnelview Bestow. The remaining heifers in this group were due in October and November to the same sire.
