Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 24th February Harrison & Hetherington held its weekly sale of calves with a slightly smaller show of 235 presented to an ever increasing ringside of buyers looking for all classes. Well grown calves continued to be a fantastic trade with great returns being on offer for these stronger types.

Topping the sale was a British Blue heifer from Messrs Reed, Moss Side House, selling for £600.  In the bull calf section British Blues topped again at £550 consigned by Messrs Elwen, Netherfield Farm, Carlisle.  Turnbull Farming, Penrith had a run of 5 ten week old British Blues to average £502.  Limousin steers topped at £540 from Messrs Fox, Windy Hill whose 3 averaged £536.  Dairy calves were in serious demand topping the sale were a pen of 12 week old Holstein Friesians selling at £370  to average £332.50.

The next sale of young calves will take place on Wednesday 3^rd March .
