Middleton Store Cattle Sale

On Tuesday 9^th of April Harrison and Hetherington conducted its monthly sale of store cattle in Middleton in Teasdale Market where a catalogued entry of 100 went under the hammer. The rain may have been falling, however, the trade was shining inside the market for all classes. An average of £1184.50 for steers was achieved with top price going to Mr Robert Hooper, Brockersgill who sold a terrific pair of Limousin steers for £1370. Malcolm Bainbridge, Ettersgill House sold a pedigree Limousin steer for £1310. Peter Walton, Swarthymere saw a delightful trade as he topped at £1280 for an 8 month old Limousin steer. His run of 5 averaged a superb £1184. Heifers met a respectable trade throughout with top price coming from Robert Hooper again selling a pair of Limousins to £1310. A total heifer average of £985.50 was achieved however it is worth taking note that cattle in Middleton are younger with ages being between 6-10 months. A great day was had leaving the vendors of Middleton more than satisfied with the day’s trade.
