STORE CATTLE – A larger entry and sale of 614 strong store cattle forward at Borderway’s weekly sale where all classes met a huge ringside of buyers who were eager for cattle. Topping the day’s trading at £2200 was a 33 month old Limousin heifer for Messrs Ewing, Dumbretton Farm, Annan. Simmental’s from Messrs Fisher, Low Milton, Newton Stewart to £1900. British Blues to £1740 David Allen, Ellerslea. Beef Shorthorns to £1660 from Messrs Bellas, Croft Ends, Appleby. Salers crosses sold to £1650 from Messrs Roper, Knowehill, Wigton. Charolais to £1590 from Messrs Cleasby, Linden House, Penrith and Aberdeen Angus’ sold to £1540 from Messrs Smith, Campingholm, Gretna.

Steers peaked at £2000 from Messrs Fisher, Low Milton, Newton Stewart for Limousin crosses. Aberdeen Angus sold to £1960 from Messrs Smith, Campingholm. Simmental crosses sold to £1880 from Messrs Potter, Cardew House, Carlisle. Salers sold to £1860 from Messrs Roper, Knowehill, Wigton a pen of 5 Hereford crosses from Messrs Fisher, Newton Stewart sold to £1740 and Blonde crosses to £1680 from Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith.

Many more could have been sold to vendor’s advantage.
