Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 1^st May Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with a large show of 473 calves forward.  Conventional system bull calves averaged £309.73 for 150 head for all breeds including black & white  bulls. Heifers averaged £322.64 for 108 head for all breeds.  Grass based system bull calves averaged £123.27 for 130 head for all breeds and heifers averaged £104.52 for 85 head again for all breeds. 

Top price today goes to Messrs Dun, Jeanfield topping the trade with two Angus bulls at £630.  Messrs Fox, Windy Hill topped the Limousin section at £590 and British Blue bulls topped at £590 twice by two vendors Messrs Harrison, Round Hill and Messrs Wilson, Wood Farm.  Holstein Friesians topped at £330 from Messrs Wannop, Waverton.

Heifers sold today to a top of £590 for Limousin heifers from Messrs Preston, Wedholme House.  Messrs McKie, Wedholme Hill topped the British Blue heifers at £580.  In the Angus section Messrs Dun, Jeanfield sold heifers to £500.
