DEEJAY TOPS AT MAY DAY SALE

The May Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale featured 262 dairy cattle from many of the top dairy herds in the North of England and Scotland.  Trade topped at £3000 for a special pedigree heifer with 106 milking heifers averaging £2178.    

Agri-King sponsored the sale with the top price going to David and Jim Gray from Drumtall Farm near Glasgow.  This was for Willsbro Deejay Ashlyn with a gPLI+£424, she will complete the eleventh generation of Excellent and Very Goods.  Her dam was sired by Dynamo and produced over 18000kgs as a four year old.   

The Wilson family from Evening farm sold an outstanding group of heifers topping at £2700 for Evening Chief Beatexus, she was bred from an Excellent 93 pointed dam that produced over 70 ton lifetime.  This special group averaged almost £2400.

Alan Reid from Dockenflat Farm near Lockerbie sold 38 freshly calved, late lactation cows and dry cows to average almost £2100 and topped at £2650 for a daughter of Winston Oracle who was giving 37kgs.      

The Broughton herd consigned another top quality group of heifers and topped at £2600 for Broughton Clare Red, she was sired by Zoom Red and was giving 34kgs.

The Baillie family from Dalserf Farm in Lanarkshire sold a powerful group of cows and heifers and topped at £2500 for Dalserf Morris Amelia who was giving 42kgs.  This impressive group averaged almost £2300.   

Several heifers sold for £2400 including Nydie Rhapsody Lynn who was consigned by the Wilson family from Clackmae Farm in Berwickshire.  She was sired by Westcoast Rhapsody and was giving 33kgs.

The Kaemuir herd owned by the Orr family from Falkirk sold eight high producing heifers and topped at £2400 for Kaemuir Art Ruby.

Holstein cows topped at £2650 for Ashberry Delta Lambda Lynee who was freshly calved in her second and was giving close to 50kgs.

The Hourie family from Bain Farm on the Island of Orkney dispersed their Fleckvieh herd and topped at £2050 for a recently calved cow sired by Oban. 

Cumrue Farming Partners and North Corbelly Dairy Farm from Dumfries sold 30 dry cows mainly due in June to the Angus sire.  These were Irish Friesian cross bred cows and topped at £1320 for a super uddered cow coming with her second to the famous Angus sire Blackhaugh Lucas.  This young cow was consigned by North Corbelly Farm.
