Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – An excellent entry of 2000 head of cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale whereby 740 of these were forward stores entered for our May Special sale.  Once again Borderway defied all odds, with other special sales around the region last week and start of this, selling at less money, not us, trade pounded forward especially for all the quality shaped sorts.  Receiving the top overall price of the day was an outstanding Limousin cross steer from Messrs Scott, Gateside Farm, Linlithgow achieving £2120.  Messrs Udale, Sideways Bank Farm, Penrith sold theirs to £2100 and Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth sold another to £1940.  Aberdeen Angus crosses sold to £2060 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn, Carlisle.  British Blues sold to £1900 from Messrs Stuart, Heartview, Dumfries and Messrs Irving, Thackmire, Wigton sold their best to £1880.  Charolais from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank to £1880.  Montbelairdes to £1750 from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and Simmentals to £1700 from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle.

Heifers sold to a days top of £2100 from the Scotts of Gateside Farm, Linlithgow and the same home sold another to £2020 for Limousins.  Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn sold Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1990.  Hereford crosses to £1860 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth.  Charolais to £1790 from Messrs Wood, Waters Farm, Penrith and finally British Blues to £1710 for two from Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton.  Messrs Watson, High Flowery Hirst, Carlisle sold one at the same money.
