Borderway Monthly Dairy Day - Spring Young Stock Sale

BORDERWAY YOUNG STOCK SALE IS A BIG SUCCESS

The first dairy young stock sale to be held at Borderway was a massive success.  The sale featured 406 in calf, bulling and heifers calves consigned from some of the best milk producing farms in the north of England and Scotland.  Trade topped at £2450 for a special in calf heifer; Holstein in calf heifers averaged £2021. 

Agri-King sponsored the sale with the top price going to Alan Reid from Dockenflat Farm near Lockerbie.  30 exceptional heifers were consigned from Dockenflat Farm to average £2170 and they topped at £2450 for a heifer sired by Applejax, she was due in July to Mecca P sexed).  A powerful framed heifer sired by Marvel sold for £2400 from the same home she was due in July to Monk sexed.

Irish Friesian in calf heifer stopped at £1250 on several occasions.  They were consigned by Cumrue Farming Partners from Dumfries and were due in June to the Angus. 

A small group of well bred Holstein heifers due in November were consigned by the Jackson family from Gullyhill Farm in Dumfries.  They topped at £1400 for Coppside Isla, she was sired by Regan Red and was in calf to the Angus.

Buyers had a quality group of well grown and well bred Holsten bulling heifers to select and they topped at £1600 for Winton Sidekick Ghost who was consigned by Peter Waring from Yorkshire.  She was bred from the much admired Ghost cow family and is the 11^th potential generation to classify either Excellent or Very Good.  Winton Chief Tippy sold for £1300 she was bred from the famous Tippy family from the Whinchat herd.

Yearling heifers topped at £1300 for a well grown heifer consigned by Belaw Farming who farm near North Allerton.  Belaw Rager Cloda was bred from a Very Good 87 dam with massive production records.

A super group of Irish Friesian heifer calves from Cumrue Farming topped at £280 on several occasions to average £158.
