On Wednesday 15th May Harrison & Hetherington held their Spring Show and Sale of calves.  The Show was generously sponsored by Britmilk, Dumfries and aptly judged by regular buyer of quality Mrs Kelcher, South Linden Farm, Long Horsley.  A strong show of 20 locally consigned calves were presented for the show. The Champion was awarded to an outstanding 2 month old Black Limousin bull calf from D J Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna which sold for £600 to the Judge.  Reserve Champion went to a sweet 4 month red Limousin heifer from JP & GJ Simpson, Knock Cross, Appleby which sold for £510 to S Lawson, Huntley Lodge, Aberdeenshire.

Topping the sale at £710 was a strong 4 month British Blue bull from MJL Simpson & Son, Waingate Head.  Heifers topped at £690 for a British Blue from Fisher Farming Ltd, Smalmstown.  T W Martin, Tempest Tower sold a great run of 10 British Blue calves to average £542/head topping at £595 for a pair of 4 month old bulls. Connell Farm, Ltd, East Drummodie sold a great run of 12 to average £500 topping at £620 for a Charolais bull and selling a pen of 4 Simmental bulls to £555.  Messrs Reed, Moss Side House sold a 4 month British Blue to £635 and a 3 month Blue heifer to £490.  Angus bulls sold to £570 from East Drummodie and a pair of Aberdeen Angus heifers from the same home sold to £455.  IT & EM Caryle, Bleaberry Rigg sold 2 month Limousin bulls to £530.  Simmental bulls sold to £505 from N Boyd & Sons, Rockhallhead, Collin.
