STORE CATTLE – Yet again Borderway leads the way with trade and numbers as 637 came to average a very healthy £1324 for 8 month to 30 months old cattle.  Top overall came from Cockermouth farmer, Messrs Johnstone, Westray Farm, selling their Limousin cross steer to £2040.  Two British Blue from Wigton Farm, Craig Irving, Thackmire sold to £1880.  New cattle vendors Messrs Telford, High Park Foot, Carlisle sold Charolais to £1870.  Aberdeen Angus crosses from Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown sold to £1810.   Saler crosses to £1740 for two from Messrs Faulder, Townhead Farm, Unthank.  Bazadaise to £1700 from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle and Hereford crosses to £1670 for two from Messrs Robley, Demense Farm, Brampton.

Heifers sold to a peak of £1920 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Beattie, Shield Green, Carlisle.  Messrs Wilson, Blackrigg, Carlisle sold their best to £1840 and Messrs Johnstone, Westray to £1790.  Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn to £1700 for an Aberdeen Angus cross.  British Blues crosses to £1680 for two from Messrs Rudd, Grassings, Wigton and to the same price and another from Messrs Faulder, Townhead Farm.  Messrs Telford, High Park Foot sold Charolais to £1680 also.

Dairy bred steers sold to £1520 for two Fleckviehs from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle, the same vendor also sold best Friesian to £1400 for two.
