FERRARO A SIGN OF GOOD TASTE

Denmire Diamonds Top at 8,000gns

For over 50 years Denmire Holsteins have been at the forefront of British breeding and this exceptional group of cows and heifers that were selected for the Denmire Diamonds sale certainly lived up to expectations.  Trade topped at 8,000gns to average £2747 for 70 cows and heifers with buyers recorded from 17 counties across the United Kingdom.

Diamonds are beautiful and stylish and so was this incredible consignment that featured 4 Excellent cows and 43 Very Goods that included 19 Very Good two year olds.  At the top of this group of stylish animals was Denmire Ferraro Reba who sold for 8,000gns to the Innes family from Nairn.  Reba was classified Very Good 87 points and is up for a revisit with the classifiers.  Following her VG Cinderdoor dam is an amazing line of Excellent cows many who have produced over 100 ton of milk.

The same cow family produced the next top price with Denmire Sound System Reba selling for 4,200gns to the Dixon family from Beech House Farm near Wigton.  She was another Very Good 87 pointed heifer this time bred from a VG88 dam sired by Lighthouse.

Diamonds are forever and just like Diamonds the cattle from Denmire have amazing longevity and stability. To date Denmire have bred 81 cows that have achieved the 100 ton milestone.  The cow family that excels in this department is the Marie cow family and it featured in the leading prices with Denmire Sidekick Marie selling for 3,800gns to Baltier Farming Company near Newton Stewart. No Less than five 100 ton cows featured in this heifer’s pedigree.

Mr Oldfield from near Gisburn purchased Denmire Apps Marie for 3,500gns.  She had recently classified Very Good 88 points in her second lactation completing ten generations of cows to classify in the top grades.  Also selling for 3,500gns was another Very Good 88 pointed second lactation cow this time for Denmire Pursuit Chrissy who was bought by the MacKenzie family from the Black Isle in the North of Scotland.
