Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 3^rd March Harrison & Hetherington held its weekly sale of calves with 360 forward.  Trade was simply outstanding with another rise on the week.  Topping todays sale at an eyewatering £675 was a British blue bull form regular supporter Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig Farm.  This excellent run of 10 calves sold to average £588, a credit to the consignor.  Good continental bull calves regularly breaking the £500 mark and many more can be sold to vendor’s advantage.  Black and white calves soared to a cracking high of £425 for a consignment of five black and white calves from Messrs Graves, Priory Farm, closely followed by another five at £410 from Wynholm Farms, Corrie, Lockerbie.  Our first larger consignments of New Zealand types calves came today selling well, regularly between £60 - £120.  We would like to add our thanks to the many consignors travelling to Carlisle from all over the North of England and Southern Scotland for their support.  Many more calves could have been sold with many purchasers going away empty handed.

The next sale of young calves will take place on Wednesday 10th March .
